Giovanni Manson Ribeiro has immediately exchanged Ajax for Fluminense, the club reports through the official channels. The twenty-year-old Brazilian therefore returns to his home country, where he signs a contract until the end of this season with the option for another year. It is not known what amount Ajax will receive.

The Brazilian hardly got a job at Jong Ajax. John Heitinga awarded Giovanni only 68 minutes of play in the Kitchen Champion Division this season, spread over five games. The attacker annex midfielder was halfway through the campaign last season at Telstar for six months, where he scored two goals and three assists in sixteen games.

Giovanni is happy with his transfer to Fluminense. “I wanted to go back to Brazil to be closer to my family. When I received an offer from Fluminense, I didn’t have to think twice. Here I get the chance to work with a great coach who loves young players. I hope to develop further here and win many prizes with the team.”

The playmaker was taken over from Santos by Ajax in 2020, but that did not go without a fight. The Brazilian club wanted a transfer fee for Giovanni, although he and Ajax were convinced that he was transfer-free. The team from Amsterdam was ruled in the right, so that the club only had to pay a training fee. Giovanni eventually came to 36 matches for Ajax’s reserves team. An official debut in the first team never happened.
