Ajax is aware that Owen Wijndal may leave next summer for ‘only’ ten million euros, Mike Verweij reports in the podcast kick off by The Telegraph† The team from Amsterdam has been preying on the 22-year-old left back of AZ for some time, who could succeed Nicolás Tagliafico in the capital. “If Tagliafico leaves, then Ajax must do it,” says Verweij.

Wijndal will then remain with AZ for two more seasons, which, according to Verweij, is nevertheless not too difficult about a departure. In previous transfer periods, amounts of up to twenty million euros were mentioned around the left wing defender. “I am curious whether Ajax dares it for ten million euros”, Verweij begins. “Ajax has Daley Blind, of course, and can you get Owen Wijndal? I think Ajax should do it if Tagliafico leaves. He (Windal, ed.) can be picked up for ten million euros and you have an excellent back for that, a potential international.” Tagliafico has promised to ‘finally’ make a transfer next summer, after Erik ten Hag blocked a departure to Barcelona in January.

Meanwhile, Ajax is still negotiating with Bayern Munich about Ryan Gravenberch. “Bayern has increased the offer and now wants to pay 18 million euros fixed plus 5.5 million euros in fairly easy bonuses, so that Ajax can reach a maximum of 23.5 million euros,” Verweij reports. “In addition, there is an amount for resale of 7.5 percent that Bayern wants to give to Ajax. And most importantly: Mino Raiola’s company is willing to waive part of the commission, and that should eventually smooth out the deal. I also think that Ajax – with a one-year contract for an almost twenty-year-old player – should be satisfied with this.” Until now, Ajax stuck to a total amount of 30 million euros, which meant that the negotiations did not go smoothly.

Verweij further confirms the news of BILD that Sébastien Haller is in the interest of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. “He also did a great job at Eintracht Frankfurt, so in Germany he is very good at it”, says Verweij, who thinks that Ajax will sit high in the tree. “Ajax paid 22.5 million euros for Haller and would like to have a lot more. I think if they can get 35 to 40 million euros, you should do it immediately.”
