The financial report on the 2021/22 season issued by UEFA on Wednesday clearly shows that Ajax has a considerable lead over the other Dutch clubs. The club from Amsterdam was already eliminated in the eighth finals in the Champions League last year, but nevertheless they raised almost twenty million euros more than all other Dutch participants in European tournaments combined.

Ajax raised a total of 65.5 million euros in the past football year, although that does not include receipts for the four European home matches in the Champions League. The coefficient premium based on the European results of the past ten years turned out to be the largest source of income: more than twenty million euros. The starting premium in the billion dollar ball ensured that another fifteen million euros was credited to the account in Amsterdam.

According to UEFA calculations, Ajax’s starting premium is higher than the total prize money that Feyenoord received. The losing finalist of the Conference League was left with almost fifteen million euros from the successful European campaign of the 2021/22 season. In the group stage of the European tournament, the team from Rotterdam collected more than three million euros. In the knockout phase of the Conference League, Feyenoord added more than 6.5 million euros.
