Brian Brobbey is not part of Ajax’s match selection on Thursday evening for the semi-final of the TOTO KNVB Cup against sc Heerenveen. The Amsterdammers communicate that the nineteen-year-old striker is ‘not match-fit’. Incidentally, Zakaria Labyad is also absent from the Abe Lenstra Stadium, but the reason for his absence is not yet clear.

Ajax coach Erik ten Hag announced at the press conference in the run-up to the game in Heerenveen on Wednesday that he had to miss Devyne Rensch, Nicolás Tagliafico and Noussair Mazraoui. The first two have been suspended, while Mazraoui has been out of circulation for a while due to problems with his eyesight. Apparently Brobbey and Labyad have also been added to the list of absentees in the meantime.

Labyad was already absent in the away match against PSV (1-1) last Sunday, but it is still unclear why the attacking midfielder is missing. Ten Hag did not mention him in the list of absent players on Wednesday. Brobbey came in Eindhoven as a substitute, but is now ‘not match-fit’. Ten Hag has appealed to the young striker more than once in recent weeks.
