Sparta Rotterdam has received its first acquisition for the new season. The current number five of the Eredivisie announces the arrival of Saïd Bakari through the official channels. The defender comes over from RKC Waalwijk and signs a contract until mid-2025 with the option for an extra year. Bakari had an expiring contract with RKC.

Bakari is happy with his transition. “Sparta is a big club, the oldest club in the Eredivisie,” he says on the club channel of the Rotterdammers. “That’s good for me. It’s a club that likes to play offensive football, that suits me. After the conversation with the trainer (Maurice Steijn, ed.) And the technical director (Gerard Nijkamp, ​​ed.) I was convinced that “I wanted to go to Sparta. That choice was not difficult. It is a competition that I know and a step up. This is great for me.”

Nijkamp is also happy with his latest acquisition. “After the last transfer window, we immediately started looking for reinforcements for next season. Because Sparta has been certain of enforcement for quite some time, we can look for Eredivisie worthy players. In Saïd we see a player who can further help Sparta to become a stable club at the highest level in the Netherlands. Over several seasons he has shown at RKC that he can compete in the Eredivisie.”

Bakari was born in France, but has dual nationality and plays his international matches for the Comoros. The right wing defender, who can also play on the left, played in youth for Paris Saint-Germain, among others. Since his arrival at RKC in 2017, he came to 136 official matches, in which he scored eight times and acted as a declarant nine times. Bakari will join his new teammates on July 1.
