Bayer Leverkusen has made a very energetic start to the new Bundesliga season. The team of trainer Xabi Alonso already beat RB Leipzig (3-2) last week and the unions on Saturday the Werkself Borussia Mönchengladbach also won: 0-3. Summer acquisition Victor Boniface was the big man with two hits, while Jonathan Tah also appeared on the scoreboard. Leverkusen is currently second on goal difference, behind Union Berlin.

Particularities
At Leverkusen, Jeremie Frimpong was the only Dutchman who was in the starting line-up. He saw his team take the lead in the eighteenth minute. A deep ball ended up on the left side with Alejandro Grimaldo, who had come up with him, who immediately passed with his head. Boniface then rounded off with a header: 0-1. The 0-2 fell deep into the stoppage time of the first half and again a deep ball led to the goal. Jonas Hofmann put back around the penalty spot, where Tah was ready to finish with the left. Shortly after the break, Alonso’s men ended the game. Florian Wirtz had a wonderful through ball at home on Boniface, who was on his moped and left Gladbach goalie Jonas Omlin without a chance: 0-3. Josip Stanisic, hired from Bayern Munich, made his debut for Leverkusen in the final phase.
