ADO Den Haag has confirmed the dismissal of trainer Dirk Kuijt on the club website. On Thursday morning, several sources already reported to it General Journal that the 42-year-old coach had been put aside by the club from the Hofstad, because of the disappointing results. The club management now confirms this.

“It is a difficult day for ADO Den Haag. The club has decided not to continue with Dirk Kuijt. “We are convinced that a change of direction in the first team can help to turn things around. The ambition remains unchanged. We thank Dirk for his professionalism, commitment and dedication. In addition, we have a huge appreciation for the perseverance, resilience and inspiration that characterize Dirk as a person.”

“The club wishes Dirk good luck with everything that comes his (trainers) path in the future”, continues ADO. “We hope our paths cross again someday. The club is currently considering the vacant position that has arisen.” Kuijt was working on his first job as head coach at ADO. He was appointed last summer, but the results were disappointing: after sixteen matches in the Kitchen Champion Division, ADO is in seventeenth place with sixteen points.

It has been restless around the club from The Hague for a long time. For example, technical manager Daryl Janmaat suddenly left earlier this month and key players submitted a transfer request. Both Thomas Verheydt and Ricardo Kishna no longer wished to play for the club due to administrative troubles. General manager Edwin Reijntjes rejected the group’s request to appoint Giovanni Franken as assistant coach. For a moment, Verheydt and Kishna seemed to be kept out of the selection for the duel with Roda JC Kerkrade due to their transfer request, but Kuijt put a stop to that. The 0-1 defeat against the Limburgers turned out to be the last piece of art of the Katwijker as trainer of ADO.
