Zakaria Aboukhlal is in the concrete interest of Brighton & Hove Albion, it has been confirmed Football International after previous reporting The Daily Mail. The Moroccan international had an extremely productive season for Toulouse with fifteen hits and five assists. The Rotterdammer is still under contract until mid-2026 Les Violets.

Aboukhlal made the switch from AZ to Toulouse in the summer of 2022 for two million euros. Together with Branco van den Boomen, Stijn Spierings and Thijs Dallinga, among others, he was responsible for a reasonable season in Ligue 1. Aboukhlal scored ten of the fifteen goals in the competition. The highlight for the club and Aboukhlal, however, was without a doubt the cup tournament. Partly thanks to two goals from Dallinga and one from Aboukhlal, Toulouse won the final of the Coupe de France with no less than 1-5.

Brighton are not the only club to have expressed an interest in the winger. Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen also have their eye on the former PSV youth player. If the choice falls on Betis or Brighton, Aboukhlal will play in the Europa League next season. Toulouse can also be admired in that tournament next season thanks to winning the Coupe de France. Leverkusen will play in the Conference League next season.

Aboukhlal started his career in Willem II’s youth. He took over from fellow countryman PSV in 2017, but there was no real breakthrough in the first. In 2019 he chose eggs for his money with a switch to AZ. For the club from Alkmaar, where he was not always assured of a basic place, he scored twelve hits and an assist in ninety games. Last season, Aboukhlal really came loose on behalf of Toulouse. Among other things, it earned him a spot in Morocco’s World Cup selection. In the group stage against Belgium, Aboukhlal scored the second and decisive goal (0-2).
