Timon Wellenreuther is enjoying strong interest from Olympique Marseille, reports Matteo Moretto of Relevo. The French top club has already sought a contract to discuss the transfer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the German is 'high on the list' in the South of France.

Marseille are on the verge of losing Pau López to Olympique Marseille and are therefore looking for a new man under the bar. THE OVER was interested in Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen, who however prefers a transfer to Chelsea. Wellenreuther is now considered one of the alternatives on the French shortlist.

Wellenreuther recently extended his contract with Feyenoord until mid-2027. In conversation with Football zone he said after the practice match against KRC Genk (3-1 win) that he had not received any guarantees. “No, you never get guarantees in football.”

“I have to work hard for it. Of course I want to be the first keeper, but at a top club there are never any guarantees. You always have competition. I want to fight for my place and of course play.”

Wellenreuther faces very serious competition at Feyenoord from Justin Bijlow, who, when fit, has almost always been preferred. In the absence of the injury-prone Bijlow, Wellenreuther has shown himself to be a more than reliable goalkeeper.
