Latest update:

TSG Hoffenheim will not enter into discussions with Burnley to permanently acquire Wout Weghorst, it is reported The Telegraph. According to the morning newspaper, FC Twente is therefore in the hunt for the signature of the 31-year-old striker. Weghorst is still in England until mid-2025, which means the Tukkers must first reach an agreement with Burnley.

Hoffenheim has thanked Weghorst for his services. The 31-time Dutch international was hired from Burnley this season. Weghorst played a total of thirty official matches on behalf of die Kraichgauerin which he scored seven goals and four assists.

Trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo is not dissatisfied with Weghorst's performance, but has decided to continue without the tall striker. Twente is closely monitoring the situation surrounding Weghorst, as he is the main transfer target at the club from Enschede this summer.

For the time being, the question is how high Burnley will be in the tree for Weghorst, who according to Transfer market is still worth 7 million euros. Business manager Simon Cziommer revealed opposite Football International Weghorst can leave for a contractually agreed lump sum payment.

The striker himself dreams of working at the Grolsch Veste, as he has been a fan of Twente from an early age. In the Netherlands, Weghorst was previously under contract with Willem II, FC Emmen, Heracles Almelo and AZ.

It is clear that Burnley wants to gain something from Weghorst's departure. The Clarets paid no less than 17.5 million euros for the high-profile striker in January 2022. However, it was not yet a success story, as Weghorst only managed to score twice in twenty official matches.

In the past two years, Burnley has successively signed Weghorst to Besiktas, Manchester United and Hoffenheim. Part of the financial damage has now been covered through the rent payments received. However, Twente will have to dig into their pockets to bring Weghorst back to the Eredivisie.
