Barcelona’s operation to bring Lionel Messi back to the Spotify Camp Nou on a free transfer may be entering a crucial phase, report Mundo Deportivo and Sport. Barcelona is convinced that LaLiga will give the green light for the million-dollar operation. If this is indeed the case, the Catalans can focus on selling the necessary players to recruit the Argentinian star player from Paris Saint-Germain.

Barça are currently not allowed to register new players due to strict Financial Fair Play rules, but expect the sale of some players to provide room. The signals for the return of Messi were therefore largely green. Chairman Joan Laporta has already had several conversations with Jorge Messi, the attacker’s father and advocate. Trainer Xavi also has frequent contact with his former teammate Messi, as confirmed ASH earlier.

Messi made it clear to his father two weeks ago that he will not make a decision about his future before the battle for the French league title is decided. Paris Saint-Germain can crown themselves national champions on Saturday with a draw against RC Strasbourg. Al-Hilal would be willing to pay Messi no less than 500 million euros on an annual basis. Barcelona can ‘only’ offer Messi 25 million euros a year. The club expects to get the green light for his arrival from LaLiga, although Barca have not yet revealed details on how it plans to sign Messi.

SPORT writes that a return of Messi to Barcelona is hugely attractive for the club. The Catalans would earn 150 million euros more in sponsorship and 80 million euros more in ticketing. It is certain that if Messi arrives, the necessary players will have to leave Barça. Xavi assured last Friday that the outgoing transfer is 99 percent, if not 100 percent, fixed. However, the Barcelona coach will not hold talks with the relevant players until the end of the season.
