Go Ahead Eagles has secured the services of Finn Stokkers, the Deventer club announced on Tuesday. The striker has an expiring contract with RKC Waalwijk and will transfer to the club from Overijssel in the summer. Stokkers has signed a contract for three seasons. In the last weeks of the season, the attacker was on a roll on behalf of RKC. The Brabant players played safe against Heracles Almelo in midweek.

In the last four games in the Eredivisie, RKC managed to grab no less than ten points, partly due to three goals and two assists from Stokkers. Partly because of this, the Brabant players secured tenth place in the Eredivisie, making another year at the highest level a certainty. Paul Bosvelt also saw Stokkers excel in the last weeks of the competition. “In the decisive phase of the season, he showed his qualities at RKC Waalwijk”, the technical director of Go Ahead Eagles compliments.

“With Finn we were able to attract a striker with an enormous drive, who now also has the necessary Eredivisie experience,” Bosvelt continues. Stokkers is also pleased with the transfer to Deventer. “The club appealed to me very much and I also talked a lot about Go Ahead Eagles with Richard van der Venne – my teammate at RKC Waalwijk,” the attacker explains. “Richard was only positive about the club. The choice for Go Ahead Eagles was therefore only logical for me.”

Stokkers says he is impressed by the Adelaarshorst, among other things. “From the previous matches I played with Sparta Rotterdam, NAC Breda, Fortuna Sittard and RKC in a full Adelaarshorst, I remember that I always loved the atmosphere in the stadium. So I’m really looking forward to having the Eagles fans behind me next season.” Stokkers wants to maintain himself with Go Ahead, as he did at RKC in the past two seasons. “That is the team goal to achieve together”, it sounds.
