The fundraising campaign to contribute to the final takeover of Cyriel Dessers by Feyenoord has not gone down well with everyone. Initiator Peter van Seventer has received several death threats and is in contact with the police almost daily. “You know, I’m just a simple guy from The Hague who wanted to do something fun. I don’t understand it.”

Van Seventer meant well. He tried to contribute to the possible takeover of Dessers by Feyenoord by means of a fundraising campaign. The striker proves his worth, especially in European matches, and has been the subject of discussion in recent weeks. The question is whether Feyenoord should definitively take over the attacker for four million from the Belgian KRC Genk. “It soon became a big fuss and the donations started pouring in,” Van Seventer tells the General Newspaper† “Dessers has just really become a public favorite. Everyone loves that boy. It is important for Feyenoord to keep a good striker. Then they can really seriously compete for the title next year.”

In addition to the statements of support and donations, Van Seventer also received death threats. When the initiator got wind of the fact that players cannot be attracted through such an action, he decided to donate the amount, about 50,000 euros, to the charities Support Casper and the Sophia Children’s Hospital. “Then you’re just not good at it, are you?” Van Seventer responds to the threats. “I started this for fun, not because I want to go on holiday to Curaçao or something. I have heard that over the last few days, pure nonsense. If you are going to threaten the creator of such an initiative, then you are the Club Feyenoord is simply not worth it, so please go and support another team.”

Despite the threats, Van Seventer is not put off and continues with his action. He is also in contact with harbor entrepreneur Dennis de Roo, who is reportedly eager to invest in the Rotterdam club. “You know, I’m just a simple guy from The Hague who wanted to do something fun. I don’t understand it,” the Feyenoord fan continues. “I hope that he (De Roo, ed.) can also use the amount of the crowdfunding in one way or another. We really have to bring in those Dessers, we love that boy. It would be nice if the club would now go to the fans are listening.”

Funding for Dessers’ transfer is contrary to FIFA regulations, as the World Football Association prohibits third-party interference in transfers under the third party ownerships† “It says everything about the involvement of the supporters of this club. And at the same time it also says everything about what Cyriel has enforced so far with his game. The gesture is beautiful, but it seems to be impossible from a technical and legal point of view,” Arne said. Already a blow to the arm after the semi-final won against Olympique Marseille, in which Dessers accounted for two of the three hits.
