Feyenoord will appeal to UEFA against a fine imposed. The Rotterdammers have to transfer more than 28,000 euros to the European Football Association for throwing objects in the Conference League game against Slavia Prague. However, the club does not agree and is considering lodging an appeal. The club calls it “disappointing” that UEFA considers it necessary to impose a sanction.

Feyenoord was fined after fans threw objects at the field en masse, according to UEFA, in the away game against Slavia Prague. “In the eyes of Feyenoord, the match in Prague went without problems and the exuberant celebration of the goals by the supporters who traveled with their own selection cannot be translated as throwing objects (maliciously), nor is such a fine amount appropriate”, let Feyenoord know in a comment on the website. The club must transfer 28,125 euros to the association.

“We believe that the Feyenoord supporters have behaved well this match and have created a nice football atmosphere in Prague. After a great atmosphere and verbal support from the team, the goals, and ultimately the victory, were celebrated exuberantly but not in a way which was in violation of the safety rules in our opinion,” the Feyenoord spokesperson continues. “The club hopes that the supporters will once again behave well during the upcoming away game against Olympique Marseille.”

Feyenoord had to transfer more than 400,000 euros to the European Football Association this season, among other things, for blocking the stairs, setting off fireworks and throwing objects. The Rotterdammers can probably expect a new fine one of these days, as massive fireworks were also set off in the home match against Olympique Marseille. The return in Stade Vélodrome is scheduled for next Thursday. Part of the stadium must remain empty during the game because supporters of the home club have misbehaved against PAOK. In addition to setting off fireworks, objects were thrown at Greeks.
