A court in Madrid has ordered Lucas Hernández to report to Spain to serve a prison sentence, reports ASH Wednesday afternoon. The 25-year-old defender of Bayern Munich is said to have ignored a contact ban. He is expected to appear in court on October 19 and then face jail within ten days. Bayern has not yet commented on the matter.

Hernández can choose in which prison he wants to serve the sentence, the newspaper reports. The criminal file of the 29-time French international has been running since February 3, 2017, when he and his wife Amelia de la Osa Lorente clashed in public. They exchanged blows and both suffered injuries from the incident. The judge sentenced them both to 31 days of community service and banned them from contacting each other for the next six months. At that time, Hernández was playing for Atlético Madrid.

However, a few months later, they went on a honeymoon together to Miami. Upon their return to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, the two were caught. Hernández was temporarily detained, but eventually released. A Spanish prosecutor, however, demanded a year in prison for Hernández and the judge agreed. Hernández’s lawyer wanted that sentence to be commuted to community service, but was rejected because Hernández had also failed to complete his first 31-day community service sentence in the first instance.

Because that request was not granted, the center defender must report to Madrid on October 19 and can select a prison in which he can serve the sentence. Hernández’s appeal against the prison sentence is still pending in a provincial court, but once the judge decides that no alternative sentence will be handed out, as was decided in Hernández’s case, a convicted person will be sent to prison. If the judge proves right on appeal, he may be released from prison.
