Jack Wilshere is back in London Colney to train with Arsenal, report this the Gunners on their website. The 29-year-old midfielder has been without a club since July 1 and has permission from Mikel Arteta to maintain his condition at Arsenal. In addition, Wilshere plans to get his coaching papers.

“We are helping Jack prepare for his next phase, physically and mentally,” explained Arsenal manager Arteta. “He wants to do the trainer training and we are willing to help him with that. That’s basically the idea and that’s all. He will train with us sometimes, we try to get him fit. He can transfer his experiences to our young players . I think it’s good to have him around.”

Wilshere has been unable to find a new club after his transfer-free departure from Bournemouth last summer, and that is stinging him. “My kids are getting to an age when they understand,” the 34-time England international told in August The Athletic. “Especially Archie, who is nine. He loves football and knows all about it. It’s hard to explain to him. He came up to me the other day and asked, ‘How come nobody wants you?’ I don’t know. But how do I explain that to him?”

Wilshere broke through at Arsenal in 2008 at the age of 16 and was known as an enormous talent. Due to multiple serious ankle injuries, the midfielder never reached full maturity, although he ended up making 198 appearances for Arsenal. He only left the club in 2018 to play for fellow townsman West Ham United. There he was again plagued by long-term injuries and in the summer of 2020 he left on a free transfer. He was then six months without a club and was recruited by Bournemouth on January 1 this year, for which he played eighteen times last season.
