Napoli surprisingly suffered a defeat in the Europa League on Thursday evening. The team of coach Luciano Spalletti took the lead against Spartak Moscow with a record goal, but had to see how the game turned completely over after a red card for Rui Mário. Two goals from Quincy Promes, among others, led to a 2-3 defeat. It was Napoli’s first loss in five games. Peter Bosz won convincingly against Bröndby (3-0) at home, while Fenerbahçe lost against Olympiakos with the same numbers.

Napoli – Spartak Moscow 2-3
With Quincy Promes in the starting line-up and Jorrit Hendrix outside the selection, Spartak Moscow was already behind after thirteen seconds (!). After a cross from the left side of the field by Lorenzo Insigne, goalkeeper Aleksandr Maksimenko grabbed the ball at the feet of Elmas, for whom it was then a breeze to hit the mark: 1-0. The goal marked the fastest goal in the Europa League on behalf of an Italian club.

However, the game changed when Mário Rui was sent off after half an hour of play with a red card for a foul on Victor Moses. Spartak fought back into the game and deservedly tied the score in the second company via Quincy Promes. Ten minutes after the break, the attacker was found by Moses after good preparatory work and pushed the ball into the left corner. The party was complete for the Russians when Mikhail Ignatov gave the visitors the victory ten minutes before the end with a shot into the left corner.

Maximiliano Caufriez still had to get rid of two yellow cards, but that didn’t spoil the party. Promes even scored his second goal of the evening in the absolute final phase, by hitting the mark on Aleksandr Sobolev: 1-3. Napoli then set up one more time through Victor Osimhen. After attacking across the right side of the field, the Nigerian striker provided some space for himself to shoot. It marked his fifth consecutive game for the striker with at least one goal. Osimhen has scored seven times in the last five games.

Fenerbahce – Olympiacos 0-3
The team of coach Vítor Pereira, who started with Ferdi Kadioglu in the starting line-up, was already behind after five minutes. Attila Szalai suffered a sloppy loss of the ball, after which Olympiakos quickly came out on the counter. Masouras found Tiquinho, who then knocked the ball over the released Altay Bayindir: 1-0. The Brazilian confirmed his good form after he was accurate during two competition matches against the Greeks last week. Fenerbahçe had the perfect opportunity to equalize on the stroke of half-time. Via the leg of Andreas Bouchalakis the ball came somewhat fortunately at the feet of Diego Rossi. However, the striker shot wildly over the goal from a standing position.

Szalai tried to make up for his mistake in the opening goal ten minutes after the break by putting Dimitrios Pelkas in front of goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik with a nice pass. The Greek has scored many goals against Olympiakos on behalf of PAOK in the past, but now hit the post. On the other hand, it was then hit. Masouras was there like the chickens to shoot a rebound from Mady Camara: 2-0. Five minutes later, the Greeks scored with the same recipe: Masouras was there again like the chickens to shoot a rebound from Camara against the ropes: 3-0.

Olympique Lyon – Brondby IF 3-0
Lyon had the upper hand in the first half against Bröndby IF. Nevertheless, the Danish visitors managed to create the first danger of the match. Andreas Bruus saw his shot go right past the post after twelve minutes. On behalf of Lyon, Lucas Paquetá was then close to the opening goal after half an hour of play. However, the Brazilian saw his shot from outside the box hit the post.

After the break, the French managed to express the dominance in the goals. Paquetá brought a ball in front of the goal, after which it was a breeze for Karl Toko Ekambi to hit from close range. Five minutes later, the striker was in the right place to shoot in a cross from Ryan Cherki: 2-0. Ekambi eventually became the man of the match, after he also served Hassem Aouar in the final phase. The attacker gave Mads Hermansen no chance with a header: 3-0.
