The match between OGC Nice and Olympique Marseille was briefly ‘resumed’ on Sunday evening and then immediately ended by referee Benoît Bastien. The Nice players came onto the field around 11.45pm, while the Marseille players stayed behind in the dressing room. Bastien resumed the game, but immediately whistled again. It is unclear what football association LFP will decide on the match, but according to the rules, a regular 3-0 defeat for Marseille should now follow.

The game derailed sixteen minutes before time on Sunday. After Dimitri Payet was hit by a bottle from the crowd and threw that bottle back, Nice supporters took to the field in droves. They were targeting players from Olympique Marseille. Several players shared photos of their injuries. It was Nice’s first home game since the stadiums reopened. The team was leading 1-0, thanks to a goal from Kasper Dolberg. An hour and a half after the decision to stop the game, it has been definitively stopped.
