Besiktas and Bologna are currently negotiating Stefano Denswil, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 28-year-old centre-back has returned to Italy this summer, after having played on a rental basis for Club Brugge in the past six months. At the same time, Besiktas is also working on the arrival of Michy Batshuayi, trainer Sergen Yalçin reveals.
Bologna paid six million euros in the summer of 2019 to release Denswil from Club Brugge. In his first year in Italian service, the centre-back made 28 appearances, but last season he had to make it with just 7 games before returning to Belgium on loan. Denswil was also not always a basic player at Club Brugge and he eventually played fifteen matches. His contract with Bologna runs for another year, making this the last moment to get a somewhat decent transfer fee from him.
According to Romano, Besiktas and Bologna are currently negotiating a fee for his ongoing contract. The reigning champions of Turkey opened the Süper Lig season on Friday night with a 3-0 victory over Çaykur Rizespor. Welinton and Domagoj Vida formed the central duo in the defense of Besiktas in that game, which also has a young center defender in the selection with Serdar Saatci. Incidentally, Yalçin confirmed after the first league match that the arrival of Batshuayi is also being worked on.
“We are currently in talks to take over Batshuayi from Chelsea. If nothing goes wrong, I expect him to join the squad next week,” Yalçin said. Chelsea took over 27-year-old Batshuayi in the summer of 2016 for 39 million euros from Olympique Marseille. After that, the Belgian striker was loaned out four times: to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and two periods at Crystal Palace. Last season he played for the Eagles twenty games, in which he accounted for two goals and two assists. Batshuayi threatens to end up at Chelsea in his last year of contract and has also fallen further in the pecking order with the arrival of Romelu Lukaku.
