There are three requirements Barcelona must meet in order to sign Lionel Messi for LaLiga, Gerard Romero reports. The journalist from the Catalan RAC1 assures Monday evening that only the right combination of circumstances can lead to the Argentinian being definitively los Azulgrana and that he can be registered for the competition.

On Twitter, Romero says that first a transfer from Martin Braithwaite is needed to keep Messi. The minimum transfer fee must also be at least fifteen million euros. In addition, Miralem Pjanic and Samuel Umtiti have to be relocated on a rental basis to reduce salary costs, or the players involved have to hand in a large part of the salary. Finally, a number of high earners also have to hand in their salary, including Gerard Piqué. The center defender would have already agreed to a salary reduction.

Reported last Friday Sport already that the Catalans have reached an agreement for, indeed, 15 million euros with West Ham United on a transfer from Braithwaite. However, the Dane would not be personally charmed (yet) by the offer of the Hammers, which means that for the time being there is a status quo. It also seems inevitable that Pjanic will leave Barcelona this summer. Romeo Agresti, Juventus watcher for Goal, says in a live session with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitch that the 31-year-old midfielder has a bad relationship with Ronald Koeman. In addition, Umtiti has already been left out of the selection in recent exhibition games to minimize the risk of injuries.

Earlier in the evening, Joan Laporta also provided an update on Messi’s situation. “We’re doing what we can,” Laporta responds when asked. “It’s not completely resolved yet, but we’re making progress. We will do what is within the club’s means to keep Messi here. He also wants to continue at Barça, so a lot is possible,” said the president, who also expects even more cooperation from the LaLiga organization. “If it is possible, we want to see more flexibility from La Liga. That is currently the case in other competitions across Europe.”
