Tottenham Hotspur rebounded Sunday afternoon for defeat on the opening day of the Premier League against Everton (0-1). Manager José Mourinho’s formation won 2-5 against Southampton. Heung-Min Son played an absolute leading role among the visitors from North London with four hits almost the entire production of The Spurs for his account. Harry Kane took care of all the assists on the same scorer, something that hasn’t happened before in the history of the Premier League.

At Tottenham, recent acquisitions Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilón were not yet present. Steven Bergwijn started as against Everton on the reserve bench. The start of the visitors was most enjoyable, with a goal from Harry Kane as a result. However, on the advice of the VAR, the hit by the English striker was cancelled. Kane was in an offside position. The same happened to Southampton after a quarter of an hour when Danny Ings scored a goal. This time there was intervention because of a handsball.

The same Ings took sports revenge in the 32nd minute by making it 1-0. The euphoria at the home club was short-lived, as Son took care of the equaliser on behalf of Tottenham in the final minute of the first half. After two minutes after half time Son gave the Mourinho team a lead, again at Kane’s request. In the remainder of the second half Tottenham had no child left. After 64 minutes Son was played into the deep end by Kane and the former was once again in a promising position. A quarter of an hour before time a successful combination between Kane and Son ensured the 1-4 of the unleashed Tottenham. Kane rewarded his sublime performance in the 82nd minute with the fifth goal from The Spurs.

Southampton took care of the final chord in the 89th minute, although the goal from Ings was only for the statistics. The VAR found a handsball in Tottenham’s penalty area and the ball went on the dot. Ings then made no mistake from eleven metres on. Bergwijn had entered the field a few minutes earlier for Kane, who received compliments from Mourinho.
