Alex Morgan will be loaned out to Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the year, he reports The Athletics based on various sources. The 31-year-old star of the American women’s team has not played a game for more than a year due to her pregnancy, but will participate the spurs. Morgan comes over from Orlando Pride, where she has been under contract since 2016.

Morgan’s decision to come to Europe is related to the pandemic in the United States. Due to the corona crisis, no games are currently scheduled in North America. Morgan is the fifth star of American football to make a temporary switch: Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle had earlier joined Manchester City, while Christian Press and Tobin Heath left for Manchester United.

Morgan was born on May 7 this year to daughter Charlie Elena Carrasco and has been working on her return to women’s football ever since. About a year ago, the striker played an important role during the World Cup, where she won the final against the Netherlands with the United States (2-0). Morgan becomes co-top scorer of the tournament with five goals, though she scores all against the poor Thailand (13-0).

This is not the first time Morgan has come to Europe. In the 2016/17 season, she played for Olympique Lyon for a few months. With this club she won the Champions League for women. Morgan has an impressive 107 goals in 169 games for the United States.
