PSV will collaborate intensively with Club Deportivo Guadalajara, the people of Eindhoven have announced. PSV and the Mexican top club, also popularly known as Chivas Guadalajara, have signed an official partnership for the coming years. Both clubs are committed to sharing knowledge and strengthening their position in the international football landscape. “They have forty million fans and followers, with whom PSV comes into direct and indirect contact,” said Toon Gerbrands, general manager of PSV.

The cooperation is mainly aimed at improving each other’s youth training programmes. By making use of each other’s knowledge in areas such as scouting, training and innovation, both clubs want to strengthen each other’s position in the football world. PSV and Chivas will start up several projects in the coming years. Exchange programs will take place between coaches, trainers and possibly (youth) teams and (youth) players.

“Internationalization plays a major role in our vision”, Gerbrands responds. “This collaboration is a direct result of this. We want to put PSV on the map worldwide. Chivas is a club of stature and enjoys enormous popularity in Central America. We are convinced that through this collaboration we can pursue greater potential.” PSV consciously looked for a partner in Mexico. Since 2006, several well-known football players from Mexico have been under contract in Eindhoven: Carlos Salcido, Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodríguez, Andrés Guardado, Héctor Moreno, Hirving Lozano and Érick Gutiérrez.

“The PSV training structure is unique and progressive in the world,” continues Gerbrands. “Applying this in a country with so many talents is sure to bring success.” PSV expects, among other things, to benefit from the influence that the Mexican top club has in Latin America. Chivas is a club with enormous popularity. With a total of more than 40 million fans in Mexico and the United States, the club has a huge following. PSV now comes into direct or indirect contact with those supporters, which greatly strengthens the international position of the club. It also offers opportunities in the field of marketing and commerce for both existing and potential partners and sponsors of PSV.”
