Morocco has beaten the Central African Republic for the second time in four days. After a 4-1 win at home the Lions of the Atlas with 0-2 in the qualifying series for the Africa Cup. Hakim Ziyech played a leading role with a goal and an assist. Morocco has collected ten points in the group stage and with two matches to go is almost certain of a place in the top two and thus qualify for the tournament in 2021.

Morocco took office with two former Eredivisionists: Ziyech and Sofyan Amrabat. In addition, attacker Zakaria Aboukhlal of AZ made his appearance in minute 78. Noussair Mazraoui of Ajax still competed against the Central African Republic on Friday, but was not in the match selection this time. Zakaria Labyad, who stayed on the bench on Friday, was also not there this time. It was not immediately clear why Mazraoui and Labyad were not part of the selection.

Morocco took the lead six minutes before half time. On the right flank, a long way from the goal, Ziyech was allowed to build for a free kick. He brought the ball in front of the goal, but it was not touched by anyone in the penalty area. Goalkeeper Geoffrey Lembet of the Central African Republic was surprised: 0-1. Morocco also countered to 0-2 in injury time: Ziyech took a long ball from Amrabat, rushed towards goal together with Youssef El-Arabi and enabled his teammate to determine the final score from close by.
