Zenit Saint Petersburg has crowned the champion of Russia for the third season in a row on Sunday. The team of trainer Sergey Semak won 6-1 against Lokomotiv Moscow, the only remaining competitor on Sunday evening. With two games to go, the gap between the numbers one and two of the Premjer-Liga is nine points.

In the event of a draw, the mutual result would offer no solution, after two draws, and Zenit had to postpone the title party for a week. However, it became clear in the first half that the superpower would already become champion on Sunday. A hit by Artem Dzyuba and a double hit by Sardar Azmoun, the numbers two and one on the top scorers list in Russia, Zenit already led 3-0 in the break.

In the first minutes after the break, Azmoun and Dzyuba increased the score. They are now respectively nineteen and sixteen hits in the competition. François Kamano did something back, after which Malcom determined the final score at 6-1 with a nice marker from considerable distance. Zenit qualifies through the championship for the group stage of the Champions League. It is the first club to have three consecutive league titles since Spartak Moscow’s series of five championships between 1996 and 2001.
