Despite everything, Noni Madueke believes that Bruma will play an important role at PSV. Both attackers provided the goals against Heracles Almelo (0-2 win) in their club’s opening match in the Eredivisie. Bruma is nominated to leave Eindhoven, but Madueke considers the presence of the Portuguese to be an added value.
With a transfer fee of twelve million euros, Bruma is one of the most expensive purchases in PSV’s club history. However, the 26-year-old winger has barely lived up to expectations in the past two years. This summer, a switch to Besiktas, for example, beckoned, but for the time being Bruma is still playing ‘normally’ in Eindhoven. Against Heracles, Roger Schmidt gave him a starting spot and seized his chance by scoring the opening goal.
Despite the fact that Bruma has not yet shown too much at PSV, Madueke believes in his teammate. “I train with him every day,” the Englishman told Football International. “I know how good he is. He’s a really good player. I’m very happy for him; that he has his confidence back. You will see that he is still very important to us this season. He can make a difference by to play a man out.”
Schmidt is also satisfied with the performance of Bruma, who was leased to Olympiacos last season. “From what I see in training, he is very motivated,” said the German. “He is part of the team and deserved this opportunity. As long as he is here I will use it. Of course there is a chance that he will leave, but he is doing well now. He scored the winning goal on Tuesday and now scored again. ” Schmidt does not want to comment on a possible departure of the attacker. “We will see.”
