Joey Veerman is disappointed that there is still no clarity about his transfer. The 22-year-old sc Heerenveen midfielder excelled on Friday evening in the opening match against Go Ahead Eagles, which was won 0-1 with great difficulty. Veerman said afterwards in front of the camera of ESPN that he thinks the asking price that Heerenveen charges for him is too high. “You can ask what you want, but…”, says Veerman.

As is known, Hellas Verona previously had five million euros for Veerman, while Feyenoord and Rangers are also interested. Heerenveen wants ten million euros. “In the end, that’s not going to happen,” said the midfielder. “You can ask what you want, but… I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think you’re worth as much as clubs are bidding. They’ve offered half of that ten million. I don’t think you can say that then. you can be sold for ten million. Whether it should be possible for 7.5 million euros? I hope so, but that’s all to be seen. I don’t know.”

Veerman is now used to being asked about a possible switch. “Yes, I get the question every week. I can’t answer anything else either. There is nothing around. Yes, there is interest, but for the rest it is up to Heerenveen to respond to it. I have said that I want to make the move, so I think that is also clear.”

On Friday, Veerman opened the Eredivisie with Heerenveen with a narrow victory at Go Ahead. The former FC Volendam player stood out especially in the first half with an excellent game. “Of course you have to find your spaces,” says Veerman. “I think I was often playable between the lines. Then it is of course about hitting once and creating as much time as possible for your fellow player. I think I did well. The first half went pretty well. “Yes. After the 1-0 you have the feeling that you want to push through. We had a lot of opportunities, but in the end we didn’t succeed. We did have a few good attacks, where we cut through easily.”

After the break, Heerenveen got a lot more difficult. “At a certain point they started to play long balls. Then it comes to headers and battles and we also started to play the long ball ourselves. That is not in my game anyway, nor in several of us. Then we sometimes make unbelievable decisions I was completely free three times, but then the choice is just not right with the cross… The second half just wasn’t good enough.”
