Fred Grim is leaving RKC Waalwijk, the Eredivisionist announced in a press release. The 55-year-old coach starts working as head coach at Willem II. The Tilburgers were without a trainer after the departure of Zeljko Petrovic, whose expiring contract was not renewed. Grim managed to keep RKC for the Eredivisie this season, without needing Kitchen Champion Play-Offs. Grim signs in Tilburg for two years.

“Fred has worked as a football player and trainer at different levels, from youth academies to the top of Dutch football”, technical manager Joris Mathijsen of Willem II explains the choice for Grim. “Willem II has the ambition to become a stable Eredivisie club with attacking football and to let our own trained talents take the step to the first team.”

Grim finished this season with RKC in fifteenth place, one place below Willem II. “Because Fred’s versatile experience and vision that he developed in his coaching career fit with Willem II, we see in him the right man to realize those joint ambitions”, Mathijsen continues. “We look forward to starting the preparation for the new season with Fred in a few weeks.”

After the direct enforcement of RKC in the Eredivisie, Willem II has become concrete, the Waalwijkers say. In consultation, RKC decided to give Grim space, which, after agreement from all parties, resulted in a transfer. “RKC Waalwijk is grateful for what Fred Grim has achieved and achieved in his time at the club. After a special promotion, a half-finished season and a very good maintenance, Fred will always occupy a special place in the history of RKC Waalwijk and be there. We are very grateful to him for that. We wish him the best of luck in his further coaching career. “
