Wilfred Genee responded Tuesday morning to the rumors that he would make the switch to Viaplay. Monday came through RTL Boulevard to the outside that the presenter would have been approached by the streaming service of the Swedish Nordic Entertainment Group to make the switch. That switch would be extremely remarkable, as Genee will make a daily talk show with René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen from January and has recently extended his contract with Talpa for two years.

Genee’s phone was red hot on Monday when the news was brought out by media journalist Rob Goossens. “I get a lot of questions about it,” Genee admits on his radio program on Tuesday The Veronica Inside Morning Show. “I also said that to that girl from Shownieuws. So much is said about me. If I have to respond to everything that is said about me, it takes me a week. My boss (John de Mol, ed.) said years ago to me: ‘You don’t have to respond to everything’.”

“Besides, in this case I don’t have to respond either,” Genee continues. “I just signed up for two years for the new talk show, so it’s not relevant at all.” Sidekick Rick Romijn then asks Genee if he can ‘declare with his hand on his heart that he is not going to Viaplay’. “Right now I’m not going to Viaplay,” Genee repeats. “That could be different in a few years, right? It’s irrelevant whether I’ve spoken to Viaplay. I mean, I’m sitting here and I signed again.”

The streaming service of the Swedish Nordic Entertainment Group is to be launched in the Netherlands in the first quarter of 2022 and will broadcast the Premier League, the Bundesliga, Formula 1 and darts, among other things. Genee held back on Monday RTL Boulevard even commentary. “I’ve learned lately to give the answer ‘no comment’ in some cases. This is one of those moments.” When asked whether Goossens’ story could be referred to the realm of fables, he responded: “No comment.”
