Wilfred Genee is quitting The Veronica Inside Morning Show. The presenter had his own radio program on the eponymous station every day, but says he can no longer combine it with the talk show that he will soon be making with Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp. Genee announced the news himself on his show on Wednesday morning.

For Genee, the VI the Dutch Summer will be continued with the daily presentation of a television program. However, that has meant that he can no longer continue his work as a radio host. “It is inevitable. It is no different. We discussed it last week. It cannot be combined with each other,” said Genee, who says that the talk show should be taken with a grain of salt. “You have to be careful not to take it too seriously, of course. That we could really understand everything. It must remain with the same undertone.”

The presenter cannot suppress that he regrets having to say goodbye to Radio Veronica. “I feel like I’m far from done here,” he says. Nevertheless, he had no choice. “Then at a certain point doing something else is not possible. And I also have a family. You would sometimes forget that.” Channel manager Rob Stenders also regrets Genee’s departure. “Wilfred never passes by the places where he goes or stands. Also at Radio Veronica he and his companions make a morning show that is about something and that stands for something.”

While Radio Veronica is looking for a successor for Genee, the talk show is working behind the scenes on the content of the program. Derksen revealed in conversation with the General Newspaper including Henk Westbroek as a regular table guest. It is intended that the talk show will be shown on SBS 6 from January from Monday to Friday. With Derksen, Van der Gijp and Genee, the permanent line-up remains the same as that in Veronica Inside, with a different rotating guest every day.
