Carlos Vinícius has not played a minute for the team of coach Roger Schmidt fourteen days since his transfer from Benfica to PSV. In fact, the 26-year-old striker has not even completed group training at De Herdgang. The Brazilian attacker has not yet received his work permit from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND).

In the search for a new striker, director of football affairs John de Jong eventually ended up with Carlos Vinícius, who did not have to count on much playing time at Benfica. The people of Eindhoven brought him to the Philips Stadium on a rental basis on the final day of the transfer window as an alternative to Eran Zahavi, the only fit striker in Schmidt’s selection since the departure of Donyell Malen to Borussia Dortmund.

Because the IND has still not issued the work permit, the Brazilian is still waiting for permission to play on behalf of PSV in matches or training. As a result, Carlos Vinicius cannot be prepared for this week’s games. According to the Eindhovens Dagblad the club hopes that the IND will provide good news by Tuesday at the latest. If that is the case, he can come into action when PSV receives a visit from Real Sociedad in the group stage of the Europa League on Thursday.
