The choice of national coach Louis van Gaal to take Noa Lang with him to the upcoming international match does not come as a surprise to Alfred Schreuder. The trainer of Club Brugge acknowledges in conversation with sporza that his ‘number 10’ is not currently in great shape, but that he is ‘fighting’ hard to get back to his level from the beginning of this season.

“It’s just part of it”, Schreuder responds when asked whether he is annoyed by the fact that Club Brugge has to hand over various players to national teams. “We can only be proud that we have so many internationals and we have to be there as Just deal with the club. On the other hand, a national coach may also want to try some things and that’s good, as long as the tax is not too bad. Because that is also important as a coach of Club Brugge.”

“Whether I am surprised that Noa Lang has been selected for the Dutch? Noa is a great player, we all know that,” continues Schreuder. “He came in very well against Ostend last week and his reaction after his substitution a week earlier was very good. We need that too. It is good that he is with the Dutch national team, despite his difficult phase. But you see that he is fighting and I am happy with that,” concludes the coach of the current number two in Belgium.

Until the winter break of the current season, Lang left an excellent impression in the Pro League, in which he scored six times in twenty appearances and provided no less than ten assists. In the new calendar year, however, sand seems to have got into the engine of the former Ajax player, as he was not yet able to put his name on the scoreboard. Moreover, Lang can no longer count on a basic spot from Schreuder every week.
