Myron Boadu and Calvin Stengs are happy to be accompanied by Mino Raiola. The two former AZ attacker both joined forces with Raiola as an agent and believe that the Dutch Italian is always committed to his clients. Raiola is sometimes looked down on by supporters of clubs, because he is said to be looking to transfer players for large fees. However, Boadu and Stengs see it differently.

“He is not there for the club, he is there for his player”, Stengs makes clear in an interview with talk show Kick it Net on YouTube channel Complex NL. “And people don’t understand that,” Boadu adds. “They are fans, for example of Ajax. If he comes to the Johan Cruijff ArenA, I think he will get beer. But for a player he gets everything out of the barrel. I don’t think people will understand that.” Raiola accompanied Stengs to OGC Nice this summer, while Boadu joined AS Monaco.

“When Mino is in the Netherlands, he always sees us. I talk to him quite a lot,” continues Boadu. Stengs calls the agent ‘a kind of teddy bear’. “He makes jokes, it’s really fun.” The two former AZ players agree ‘one hundred percent’ that it is underestimated how important it is to have a good agent. “It’s also about guidance. Agents can have a negative influence on what you do and you are the one who gets criticized and is left with the bad luck,” says Boadu.

Boadu is remembered for his recovery from a serious knee injury in 2017 and 2018, as he worked on his recovery in the United States. Boadu then trained side by side with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, another client of Raiola. “He immediately said to me: you are going to America”, the striker refers to Raiola. “You can also see how he trains,” he said. America was the best option anyway.” The fact that Raiola has a good relationship with Ibrahimovic and could therefore arrange for both players to rehabilitate together, according to Boadu, is a ‘luck that you just have to have’.
