Leroy Fer is on his way to make a transfer to Turkey, Johan Derksen reports in Veronica Inside. The 31-year-old midfielder of Feyenoord will be sold to Alanyaspor, according to the analyst.

“We just heard that Fer is being sold to Turkey,” said Derksen. “Then I think: what a shame for that club, that they spend money on that, because it has nothing more to bring.” Valentijn Driessen cynically adds: “They will not have shown a video against Elfsborg when he came in”, he refers to Fer’s short substitute last Thursday.

Derksen goes a step further. “When Fer gets there, they think: this is not the Fer we saw on the video. This is his father,” he winks. Fer was forced to start this season as a center defender at Feyenoord, but disappeared to the bench after the arrival of Gernot Trauner. On Sunday against Go Ahead Eagles (2-0 win), the routine remained there for the entire game.

Fer was pulled back from Swansea City by Feyenoord two years ago and has mostly had a starting spot since then. He has now lost that under Arne Slot. Including his first period in Rotterdam, Fer has made 193 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring 21 times and providing 17 assists. His contract runs for one more year.
