Ritsu Doan still believes in the national title, he says in conversation with Football International† The PSV attacker expects that Ajax can still lose points and sees an influence of the lost cup final in this. Doan mentions the collective as the strength of the people of Eindhoven and points to winning the TOTO KNVB cup.

The won cup final caused a lot of joy for Doan. “The cup final was fantastic. What a match and what an atmosphere”, says the attacker with a smile. For Doan, winning the final was extra special. “For me it was a very special moment to win the cup in such an intense duel with Ajax. It’s only my first prize. I’ve never won a title or cup in Japan, nor have I ever won. I am very proud that it has now been achieved. My first prize and of course there must be many more”, says Doan confidently.

However, it certainly did not go without a fight in the final battle due to the short preparation time of the Eindhoven team. “The fact that after the game with Leicester City and a 1-0 deficit we still manage to turn it around a few minutes after half-time, says it all. What a comeback. The fact that we were able to bring this to Ajax is because we are mentally very strong as a group”, Doan praises his team. It is clear to the wing attacker that PSV deserved to win. “We showed with our team spirit that we really wanted to win that cup. And to be honest, we deserved it and Ajax didn’t. Of course they also had some chances, but they weren’t as big as ours. we were there and we killed Ajax

According to Doan, PSV still has a chance to win the national title in addition to the cup. “I know the battle is not over yet. That feeling lives with all of us and we are certainly talking about it”, Doan is combative. “But we will have to win all four remaining matches ourselves, that is necessary. It’s not easy, but we believe in it. There are still four finals for both Ajax and us. Ajax has had some difficulty in winning the competition matches in recent weeks. They are no more top level like earlier this season. The title race is going to be really exciting.”
