Rai Vloet appeared on the football field at the Russian FK Ural on Tuesday afternoon, the day after the verdict for causing a fatal accident. The midfielder took on Quincy Promes’ Spartak Moscow with his team in the semi-finals of the Russian Cup. Vloet took part in the entire game and left the field with a 2-1 win. After the 1-1 from the first leg, that was enough to reach the final.

On Monday afternoon, the court ruled that Vloet was guilty of causing a fatal accident as a result of recklessness. The former PSV and Heracles Almelo player drove too fast and had drunk too much. He has to go to prison for 2.5 years. That did not prevent Vloet from kicking off a day later for the return in the semi-finals of the Russian Cup. Promes was not there due to an injury.

After Ural and Spartak held each other 1-1 three weeks ago, partly due to a goal from Promes, Vloet’s team was too strong this time. The score was opened by Ibrahima Cissé after half an hour. After the break, Keita Baldé tied the score, but it was Fanil Sungatulin who shot Ural to the final. The other semi-final is between CSKA Moscow and Samara. Those teams play their return on Wednesday. The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw.
