Latest update:

Michael van de Kuit is no longer interested in taking over Vitesse. The stadium owner speaks opposite The Gelderlander expresses no intention of 'getting involved in a financial drama'.

Vitesse has launched a 'bidding round' for this week. In practice, this means that potential lenders have until Wednesday to submit a takeover bid to the people of Arnhem.

If the club reaches a deal with an investor, Vitesse can draw up a budget as the next step to retain the professional license. The KNVB licensing committee has given the number eighteen of the last Eredivisie season until Monday, June 17, to complete this.

In any case, Van de Kuit will not interfere in the bidding round. The owner of the GelreDome says he is 'no longer interested'. “Vitesse had the chance, but didn't do anything with it. I have tobacco in it,” he reasons The Gelderlander.

“Parties can now make a bid for Vitesse, but no financial investigation into the club is possible. Or a background analysis. That is not doing business.”

Van de Kuit also says that he sees things going 'completely wrong' for Vitesse. According to the entrepreneur, interim director Edwin Reijntjes and advisor Paul van der Kraan are not doing enough to cut costs, which will destroy the club financially.

Due to Van de Kuit's withdrawal and Maasbert Schouten's earlier 'no', Vitesse now seems to have to focus mainly on investors from abroad. However, the club's financial problems would act as a deterrent for potential lenders. It is also questionable whether the necessary WHOA procedure will continue.
