Vitesse wants to keep Matús Bero in the house longer with a ‘top offer’, reports the Gelderlander. The midfielder’s current contract expires next summer. The Arnhemmers have a multi-year contract ready for Bero. When asked, business observer Simon Cziommer calls the chance of a new contract ‘very promising’.

Bero is seen as a determining player at Vitesse. He is a fixture under trainer Thomas Letsch. According to the regional daily, the negotiations on a new contract, which have been going on for a year and a half, are in the final phase. The 26-year-old midfielder, who would aspire to play in England one day, would also be of interest to foreign clubs.

Cziommer, Bero’s agent, thinks it is likely that the sixteen-time Slovakian international can also be admired in Gelredome in the future: “For Matús, not only the financial side counts for the future, but certainly also the sporting aspect. There must be a plan for the continuation of his career. Vitesse is on offer and do not plan to blame.”

Cziommer says that his client will provide clarity about his future within four weeks and therefore calls the contract discussions with Johannes Spors, the technical director of Vitesse, ‘very constructive’ so far. Bero is now in his fourth season with the current number five in the Eredivisie. Before that, he was active in his native country for AS Trencin and Fenerbahçe.

This season, Bero played eight matches in the Eredivisie, in which he received six yellow cards and one red. He has played two matches in the European Conference League so far, in which he was accurate once in the won away match against Slovenian NS Mura (0-2).
