Vitesse and Fortuna Sittard shared the points in GelreDome on Saturday evening. Thomas Letsch’s team was unable to express the dominance during the match in the score and therefore had to make do with a draw: 1-1. Mats Seuntjens gave Sjors Ultee’s team a dream start by shooting in a corner in one go. Nicolai Baden Frederiksen equalized just after the break. Due to the draw, Vitesse has to make do with eighth place in the ranking, while Fortuna is stuck in fifteenth place.
Fortuna had to do it against Vitesse without the still injured Zian Flemming. Ultee was also unable to rely on Mickaël Tirpan, who was injured during the 0-5 defeat against Ajax last Tuesday. At Vitesse, Loïs Openda started on the bench. The vanguard of the Arnhemmers was formed by this. Yann Gboho and Frederiksen. Fortuna immediately tried to push through after the early opening goal and thought he was sitting on roses within ten minutes. Tesfaldet Tekie served Seuntjens, who then shot the ball through Schubert’s legs. This time, however, the attacker was narrowly offside. Less than half a minute later, Ultee’s team had another great chance. The second half was only five minutes old when Vitesse came alongside. A free kick by Bazoer was headed hard by Frederiksen: 1-1. The Arnhem team kept up the pressure continuously in the second company, although that did not immediately lead to great opportunities. Oussama Darfalou had two great chances in the last fifteen minutes to keep the three points in GelreDome. The striker first shot at Van Osch and a few minutes later headed just wide of Fortuna’s goal.
