Feyenoord and Vitesse know their possible opponents in the last preliminary round of the Conference League. During the draw in Nyon, Feyenoord was linked to the winner of the diptych between IF Elfsborg and FK Velez, while Vitesse will compete against the winner of the diptych between Anderlecht and FC Laçi in a possible last preliminary round. The two Eredivisionists first have to get through the third preliminary round.

Feyenoord must first get rid of Lucerne in the third preliminary round. Those matches will be played on Thursday 5 and 12 August. The duels in the last preliminary round are scheduled for Thursday 19 and 26 August. The draw already determined on Saturday that 1. FC Union Berlin, the winner of IF Elfsborg – FK Velez, the winner of Rakow Czestochowa – FC Rubin or the winner of Hibernian – HNK Rijeka would come out.

Elfsborg and Velez will meet each other for the first time on Thursday in the third preliminary round of the Conference League. Last season, Elfsborg finished number two in Sweden, nine points behind champions Malmö FF. In the Bosnia-Herzegovina competition, Velez finished third, eight points behind national champion Borac Banja Luka.

Unlike Feyenoord, Vitesse had no seeded status. Stade Rennes, the winner of FC Laçi – Anderlecht, the winner of Vojvodina Novi Sad – LASK and the winner of Spartak Trnava – Maccabi Tel Aviv were the possible opponents for the Arnhem team. If Anderlecht beat the Albanian FC Laçi, Vitesse will have a tough job on paper, although Anderlecht started the new season disappointingly with one point from two matches. However, the Arnhem team will first meet Dundalk in the third preliminary round.
