Virgil Misidjan will play for FC Twente next season, so assured TC Tubantia. The 27-year-old wing striker has an expiring contract with PEC Zwolle and is close to an agreement with the Tukkers. FC Twente expects to be able to complete the transition this week. Previously Swansea City and Reading were in the market for Misidjan.

“It looks good,” technical director Jan Streuer of FC Twente told the regional daily. “Virgil is a creative winger with speed and a good shot. A player who can use both the right and left sides. He is also an experienced boy.” PEC Zwolle wanted to continue with Misidjan, but according to technical manager Mike Willems, it did not come close to his salary requirements.

Misidjan signed a six-month contract with PEC in January. It was a win-win situation for both parties: for the Zwolle club a player who knew the Eredivisie and had experience and for the attacker a club where he could fully play again. Just before the winter break, Misidjan made his first official match in 575 days at 1. FC Nürnberg. Partly due to injuries and community service, he hardly came within the lines for the German club and eventually his contract was dissolved, after which he signed with PEC. In Zwolle he made fifteen games, in which he scored four times and provided three assists.

FC Twente is busy putting together the selection for next season. The Enschede club previously took over goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall transfer-free from PSV and is negotiating with FC Utrecht about Václav Cerny. The 23-year-old wing striker played on a rental basis at Twente last season, which would like to take him over permanently. “That looks good,” Streuer refers to the negotiations with FC Utrecht.
