Real Madrid has clearly yet to gain momentum. Zinedine Zidane’s team booked the second victory of the LaLiga season on Wednesday evening at the expense of Real Valladolid. A goal from Vinícius Júnior was decisive: 1-0. With the victory, Real Madrid comes on seven points from three matches and the reigning champion in third place overnight. The capitals play out at Levante on Sunday evening.

Real Madrid played on possession from the start, creating several clear opportunities, but failed to pass Roberto Jiménez. The two attempts by Luka Jovic, who together with Karim Benzema formed the attack in a 4-4-2 line-up, lacked the necessary precision. Federico Valverde had the 1-0 on his shoe in the ninth minute. After a chance for Marcelo, the ball fell at the feet of the Uruguayan and it was Jiménez who turned the ball back with an excellent save.

Valladolid got into the game better as the first progressed, occasionally carefully reporting to Thibaut Courtois’ goal area. However, the visitors did not get further than a few attempts from a distance, which were prey for the Belgian. Shortly after the break, Valladolid got away very well. Jiménez turned a header from Jovic, after which Casemiro’s rebound went against the bar. A few minutes later, Courtois in turn was aware of a shot from Shon Weismann after an individual action from midfield.

Zidane had seen enough and took Isco, Jovic and Álvaro Odriozola aside, in favor of Daniel Carvajal, Marco Asensio and Vinícius Júnior. The Brazilian drew 1-0 a few minutes later. After an error on the side of Valladolid, Bruno González reversed a shot from Benzema and the leather eventually ended up with Vinícius Júnior, who outwitted Jiménez in the right corner.

Valladolid, however, reacted strongly to the downer. Courtois tapped a shot by Raúl Carnero over the goal with his fingertips and then reversed a powerful shot from Waldo Rubio. Bruno González’s header went just wide. In the final phase, Real Madrid got a little more space and the 2-0 was also in the air. Benzema was just unable to reach Vinicius and a shot by Luka Modric ended up on the post.
