VfL Wolfsburg is open to a departure from Wout Weghorst. The striker has been linked to clubs such as Arsenal, AS Roma, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur in recent years, but there is no sign of a transfer for the time being. Wolfsburg, however, opens the door wide: director Jörg Schmadtke indicates that interested clubs can report.

according to kicker there is no offer yet, but there is ‘no shortage of interested clubs’. “If there is an offer that all parties are happy with, things will change,” says Schmadtke. Weghorst has now had three seasons at Wolfsburg. He scored 51 goals and 17 assists in 100 Bundesliga games. Last season, Weghorst had his most productive year, scoring 20 times for the first time in his career.

Weghorst was rewarded for his good season with a place in the European Championship selection of the Dutch. He had a starting spot in the first two group matches, but then had to make way for Donyell Malen. A departure from Weghorst would be an annoying start for Mark van Bommel of his employment as trainer of Wolfsburg. This week Van Bommel started his new job. If Weghorst stays, he goes with the Wölfe into the group stage of the Champions League.
