Rick Karsdorp’s future lies with AS Roma. It Algemeen Dagblad reports Friday afternoon that the right-footed fullback has won a contract until mid-2025 at the Stadio Olimpico. Karsdorp’s current commitment will expire after this season. The former Feyenoord player is working on a very strong season in Rome under trainer Paulo Fonseca. The club management must also confirm the contract extension.

Karsdorp has been able to count on a basic place at AS Roma for some time now, which dealt with Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday in the eighth final of the Europa League: 3-0. The Dutchman is used this season as the rightmost midfielder in a 3-4-2-1 system. The contrast with his first period in the Italian capital is great. Karsdorp, taken over from Feyenoord for sixteen million euros in 2017, had a false start in Serie A due to injury time. After a rental period at Feyenoord, however, he returned strongly to the current number four.

The completely revived Karsdorp was recently even associated with the Dutch national team. However, national coach Frank de Boer had no place for the right foot in his preliminary selection for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches of the Dutch. Nevertheless, Karsdorp looks to the future with great optimism. “AS Roma has started to play differently and I fit in well with that picture. But the main difference is that I am top fit. That was the big problem before. Also at Feyenoord. If you are not physically fit, you cannot show it. . I was now fit from Feyenoord to Rome and the fact that corona had not been played for a long time had no negative influence on me. In addition, I knew what to expect “, it sounded in an interview with the Algemeen Dagblad.

Karsdorp is currently preparing for Sunday afternoon’s away game against Parma. For the winger it is a reunion with Graziano Pellè, his former teammate at Feyenoord. Parma occupies nineteenth place in Serie A and needs the points very badly in the fight against relegation. In addition to Pellè, Karsdorp will have to deal with Joshua Zirkzee, although it is still the question whether the attacker rented by Bayern Munich will get playing time against AS Roma.
