Bart Verbruggen has finally secured his transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion, according to Belgian media. The Anderlecht goalkeeper has already announced his departure internally. He is expected to travel to the English coastal town one of these days to undergo his medical examination. Verbruggen brings Anderlecht no less than twenty million euros. Never before has so much money been paid for a goalkeeper in the Belgian league.

Brighton has not yet announced the arrival of Verbruggen to the world, but that is reportedly not long in coming. The Dutchman already announced his transfer internally after both clubs managed to reach an agreement on a sum of twenty million euros. Verbruggen thus becomes the most expensive goalkeeper ever in Belgium. He leaves Thibaut Courtois behind, among others, who went from KRC Genk to Chelsea in 2009 for 9 million euros.

Verbruggen recently announced that he had had a conversation with Roberto De Zerbi. The progressive Italian has played an important role in the transition of the Dutchman. “Yes, that was great. That is also the reason why I took this option very seriously,” said Verbruggen in the General Journal. The goalie wanted to fully concentrate on the European Championship with the Dutch Juniors in recent weeks. The early eviction has seen the deal gain momentum in recent days.

Twenty-year-old Verbruggen experienced his absolute breakthrough at Anderlecht last season. After the Breda native got the chance under the crossbar at the end of December, he no longer disappeared there. It ensured that many clubs were on the ropes for him. Manchester United inquired, but did not make an offer, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. Burnley and Brighton did. Verbruggen will have to compete for a place under the bar in the south of England with Spanish international Robert Sánchez and Jason Steele.
