NAC Breda provided clarity through the official channels on Thursday evening about the training compensation of Bologna for Sydney van Hooijdonk. For a long time, the Breda club seemed not to be entitled to the financial windfall due to carelessness in the administration, but that is not the case. The club has in black and white from Bologna that the Italian club has agreed to an amount of 400,000 euros for the attacker.

NAC would not have made Van Hooijdonk a new contract offer and would therefore not be entitled to the training allowance, reported BN DeStem earlier. NAC denied that story, but was unable to reach an agreement all along. The amount is considerable, as it equals about twenty percent of the players budget. “During the forum evening the question arose about the training allowance for Sydney van Hooijdonk”, NAC writes on the website. “The management has indicated that it has been finalized except for a few details. NAC and Bologna have reached a final agreement.”

NAC decided to formally terminate Van Hooijdonk’s contract because both parties were unable to come to an agreement. The striker then signed for four years with Bologna at the beginning of July. The club from the Serie A took over Van Hooijdonk on a free transfer. “From the outset, NAC has stated that it will meet all of these requirements,” the statement continued. “The reason NAC did not immediately send an invoice is because the new club is obliged to find out for themselves whether they should pay a fee. This can sometimes take some time. It is usual for clubs to be given the time to figure this out. to search and eventually pay.”

When the deadline expired, NAC made contact with Bologna. “Then the parties have had a good discussion about the details, such as, for example, the classification category that determines the amount of the training fee,” according to NAC. “These details have now also been recorded and an invoice has been sent to Bologna. It is written in black and white that Bologna FC will pay this invoice within the set payment term.”
