Heracles Almelo made the new season in the Eredivisie an excellent start. The coach of Frank Wormuth won in their own Erve Asito 2-0 against the very disappointing ADO Den Haag, where seven new players had a basic place. In addition to the loss, ADO had more setbacks as Boy Kemper did not reach the end of the match in Almelo due to a red card, two yellow cards. Silvester van der Water, who saw a switch to Orlando City SC blocked by Heracles, was the big star.

ADO manages to survive the first half wonderfully, despite a great dominance of Heracles, where Cyriel Dessers, who left for Racing Genk, is no longer the attacking leader. Van der Water in particular was several times very dangerous to the Wormuth Brigade. After ten minutes of play, the wing pulls out and follows a shot to the far corner. However, the ball landed at the wrong side of the goal. After more than fifteen minutes of play, Kemper received his first yellow card after blocking Van der Water with his arm. The left-footed wing defender clearly had no control over the Heracles wing.

Heracles tried surprisingly often with long shots in the first half. Jeff Hardeveld, Teun Bijleveld and Tim Breukers could not outsmart Luuk Koopmans, the ADO goalkeeper. Four minutes after the break, it was a hit for the much stronger home side. A measured corner from Van der Water was skillfully inserted by Rai Vloet. After more than an hour of play, Wormuth decided to send Sinan Bakis and Luca de la Torre into the field. Delano Burgzorg and Adrian Szöke were taken to the sidelines. Bakis was already dangerous a few minutes after his entrance with a shot that flew just over the goal.

Five minutes later, in the 71st minute, Van der Water ended the one-sided match in Almelo. After a short tussle with the defender, Robin Pröpper finally tucked the ball home. A minute later, the visitors’ disaster afternoon was complete, when Kemper hung on to Van der Water’s shirt again. Referee Sander van der Eijk had no choice but to take a second yellow card out of his shirt pocket. The safe Fleet was relieved in the 83rd minute by Jeremy Cijntje, who was shortly before the end of the third goal, after a moderate cross from Van der Water. Koopmans prevented ADO worse, which was watched from the stands by Martin Jol, Head Technical Heart. Substitute De la Torre shot in a promising position on behalf of Heracles in injury time, which therefore has a very good start to the season.
