Edwin van der Sar is doing well under the circumstances, he said during the podcast on Monday KieftJansenEgmondGijp. The former general manager of Ajax suffered a brain haemorrhage last year, but he indicates that he is doing better. During the recording of the podcast, he unexpectedly rang the doorbell at the house of his agent, Rob Jansen, after which the former goalkeeper suddenly joined us.

“How is your health, old giant?” René van der Gijp asks Van der Sar in a characteristic manner the moment the former director walks in.

“Good man, good,” says Van der Sar. “It’s not that it doesn’t bother me at all anymore, but I’m doing well. I don't think I have much damage.'

“It is of course also true that I have not yet spent a whole day in the office from eight in the morning to seven at night with all kinds of meetings. But I'm doing well. If I knew there was a camera here, I would have put some wax in my hair,' Van der Sar concludes with a laugh.

The former goalkeeper was on holiday in Croatia in July when he suffered a brain haemorrhage. Van der Sar was taken to hospital by trauma helicopter where he was admitted to intensive care.

More than two weeks later, he informed via X that he had left intensive care and would soon take the next step in his recovery.

Van der Sar is not talking about a return to football for the time being. He indicates in the podcast that he recently returned from a holiday in the Caribbean with his wife.
