As far as René van der Gijp is concerned, FC Utrecht should throw a line at Mohamed Ihattaren. The regular table guest of Today Inside responds in that program to the news that the former player of PSV and Ajax, among others, has left Slavia Prague, and suggests that the club from Ihattaren's birthplace should make an attempt.

“I read this morning that those Ihattarians want to play football close to home,” Johan Derksen begins about the midfielder. “Then I think: that will be Spakenburgbecause there is no Dutch club that wants him anymore.”

“He has been sent away everywhere. He is 22 years old. If Almere does not try with him, then it is over,” Derksen fears for the end of the professional career of the top talent of yesteryear.

“There is no longer a Dutch club that will seriously work with him. He has failed at five clubs,” he said the moustache. Özcan Akyol, also a guest on the talk show, wonders whether Ihattaren has received the right guidance.

“With all due respect to Wesley Sneijder, but he is not a therapist or anything,” said the writer. Derksen: “A club cannot continue to provide guidance indefinitely. At some point, a club must also draw the conclusion that it is a waste of time.”

Van der Gijp nevertheless thinks that a certain Eredivisie club should try again. “If I were Utrecht, I would leave it to him. I would call him. Not to persuade him to come, but I would say: 'Dear boy, if you revive your career, you are always welcome. Don't you feel like it, just good friends.'”

Derksen wonders whether that is a good idea. “I think he also causes a lot of unrest. People are annoyed by him,” concludes the former professional.
