According to club watcher Mike Verweij, the offer that Ajax has made to Brian Brobbey is far below the salary that the nineteen-year-old striker will earn at RB Leipzig. In the Kick-Offpodcast from The Telegraph says the journalist that director of football affairs Marc Overmars has made him an offer of one million euros a year. That amount could have risen to 1.5 million, while the attacker in the Bundesliga will earn three million annually. “But it’s all reported, huh,” the journalist emphasizes.
Overmars was in negotiations for a long time with José Fortes Rodriguez and Mino Raiola, who represent Brobbey’s interests. Ajax finally announced last month that the negotiations had come to nothing and that the striker would leave transfer-free after this season. On Friday it was announced that Brobbey has signed a four-year contract with Leipzig, Germany’s number two, despite the fact that Overmars would have flown to Monaco to still come to an agreement with Raiola. “Brobbey is reportedly going to earn three million a year in Germany. And at Ajax he could get a million gross. Rising to one and a half million euros ”, says Verweij.

Valentijn Driessen, the newspaper’s chief football player, states that Ajax striker Sébastien Haller receives a salary of five million euros per year. “I don’t believe that Haller earns five million”, Verweij responds. “I think so,” said Driessen. “If you pick someone up for 22.5 million with the salary he made in England, which was more than five million, I don’t think he’s going to sign for under five million.” According to Verweij, this is also the problem of Brobbey’s departure. Driessen thinks that Ajax should have gone further in the attempt to keep Brobbey.
